I added the monitor addon to my spider, when a monitor test passes or fails it should send an email, but it isn't working. 

I enabled it in the spider dashboard of my project (in case you wonder I didn't)

I noticed none of your projects has enabled the add-on. Please try again through this page for example and check the Enable button.
